Copernico Vini, Il Rosso del vino

Molinara

Grapvines: Molinara

Historic Outline
Found as far back as the 1800’s, this is a native plant from Verona that produces black-berry grapes. It has also been called the salted (or salty) grape for it is its this particular salty, savoury taste that contributes to the overall taste of the wine. The presence of a frosty coating on the grapes makes it seem you will dirty your hands when touching the grapes, and from this aspect of the grape derives its name; Molinara, which means, “to come from the mill.”

Characteristics
The leaf is medium to big in size, pentogonal in shape and has very pronounced, ridged edges.
The bunches of grapes are also medium to big in size, long and cylindrical in shape and dispersed at an average distance.
The grape is round with a deep violet-red colour; the skin is very firm and the pulp is moderate in its consistency, giving it a simple but sweet taste.

The plant is robust and vigorous with constant production, fully presenting itself at its fading/withering.
